STUDENT FEST

When: 01.06.2019                                                              Where:  Zabrze, Poland

STUDENT FEST is a student’s day organized in cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology and the Medical University of Silesia. As part of this event, various popular and scientific events took place. TEACH project was presented during this event through lectures targeted to participants invited from high schools, not only students but also many interested persons.

RESULTS OF THE FIRST STAGE

As part of the first stage of the project work, research and information necessary to create the training material were carried out. Each project partner conducted a survey among the relevant target users in their countries using:

  1. Group focus with external experts to determine the preferences of the target group.
  2. Questionnaires to detect the training needs of potential stakeholders. Questionnaires were disseminated via an open online survey platform.

Thank you to all participants and institutions participating in the research.

We are currently working on developing the curriculum and creating a training platform.

TEACH  PROJECT: RESULTS OF THE MIDTERM MEETING

This week the Midterm meeting of the TEACH project (Erasmus + program) was held, in which the project coordinator, Silesian University of Technology (SUT, Poland), participated together with the Institute of Biomechanics of Valencia (IBV, Spain), Universitat de València (UV, Spain) and the Association of Medical Schools in Europe (AMSE, Germany).

In this meeting they have dealt with issues related to the work done so far, mainly with the organization of discussion groups and the generation of a specific survey, activities aimed at detecting training needs on biomechanical analysis in the university context, specifically in the sanitary branch. In this way, needs and preferences have been identified in relation to the biomechanical training of various teachers from universities throughout Europe, through collaboration with AMSE, SUT and the UV’s School of Medicine.

In addition, during the meeting the structure and content of the training materials to be developed within the framework of the project were exposed. On the other hand, different aspects related to the dissemination of the project, exploitation and quality have been commented.

The Erasmus + TEACH project will provide free access teaching materials for the generation of training activities in biomechanical assessment in medical schools. Currently, biomechanical assessment its used as a complementary test in different fields of medicine: rehabilitation, occupational medicine, assessment of bodily harm or process management, among others, assuming significant savings in health, economic and social resources.

However, this discipline is not usually part of the training curricula in the European Schools of Medicine and university professors do not have experience or teaching materials, so that graduates in Medicine finish their studies without the necessary training to perform and interpret this type of evidence.

Therefore, the goal of TEACH project is that five years after it concludes, the European labour market can have the first promotion of graduates in medicine trained in biomechanical assessment.
