INSTITUTO DE BIOMECÁNICA DE VALENCIA (SPAIN)

The Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV) is a technological centre that studies the behavior of the human body and its interaction with products, environments and services. The beginning of its activities date back to 1976, but currently IBV is coordinated under the agreement of the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE) and the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).

With the aim to improve competitiveness among the business sector, the IBV promotes people’s well-being through the combination of knowledge in areas such as biomechanics, ergonomics and emotional engineering, and its application to diverse sectors.

Name: JAIME MIGUEL PRAT PASTORA

Medical Doctor, specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery, PhD in Medicine and Surgery by the University of Alcalá de Henares. He carried out activities on different Hospitals and then he joined to the IBV in 1987 as a researcher. Nowadays he is R & D Director and Deputy Director of IBV since 2003. He collaborated as an author of 58 books, 41 articles in scientific journals and 143 communications in congresses. He participated in 97 funded projects at national and European level and in 143 agreements with companies. He supervised 10 thesis. Research topics: Biomechanics of the Musculoskeletal System, Orthopaedic Surgery, Ergonomics, Disabled People, Elderly People, Assistive Technology and Functional Assessment.

Name: JOSE DAVID GARRIDO JAÉN

PhD in mechanics at Polytechnic University of Valencia. He is the director of Technology Services of the IBV since 2002. He is coordinating the researchers focused on biomechanical analysis in IBV in order to carry out research activities, training, biomechanical tests and technology transfer. He collaborated as an author of 8 books, 14 articles in scientific journals and 53 communications in congresses. He participated in 31 funded projects at national and European level and in 27 agreements with companies. Research Interests: Biomechanical evaluation of human activities in the areas of rehabilitation and personal autonomy, occupational health and physical activity and sport.

Name: JUAN LÓPEZ PASCUAL

BSc in Education and MSc in Human Resource Management, is Innovation Manager in the Market Development Area of IBV. She closely collaborates on the management, coordination and dissemination of national as well as international projects carried out by IBV, being specialised in projects focused on training and knowledge transference. She participates in the management of Virtual Campus IBV, including contents management, courses promotion and coordination of users and activities of the course.P

Name:MARIA FRANCISCA PEYDRO DE MOYA

PhD MD in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Senior scientist at IBV. She has a wide experience in functional assessment. Her main specialty is in relation to the use of biomechanical instrumentation for functional assessment including gait and balance. She collaborated as an author of 17 books, 15 articles in scientific journals and 67 congresses communications. She participated in 42 funded projects at national and European level and in 37 agreements with companies.

Name:RAQUEL PORTILLA PARRILLA

BSc in Education and MSc in Human Resource Management, is Innovation Manager in the Market Development Area of IBV.
